Preciiis like that!

My podcast co-hosts Jesper Bylund, Mayu Nakamura and I have teamed up with Sanna Stefansson to launch a collective of collaborating independent professionals, Preciiis. We still work under our own names from our respective bases in Tokyo, Lisbon/Berlin and Stockholm. But we also come together in different configurations when it benefits our clients.

The world doesn't need another traditional agency. It does however need networks of people who are extremely good at what they do, have embraced both technological and societal changes, are nimble by default and deliver their work in an international context.

Your new best friend/s.

With "fragmentation accelerating in agency world", brands are looking to work with "partners who understand orchestration, strategy", and "what it takes to deliver when roles for designers and others are evolving". Those aren't my words, those are the clever words of two of my clients. Both of them are winding down their contracts with large agencies. All their high-value opportunity focused and strategic work is being contracted to the smallies, the indies. What's left for the biggies is overseeing tactical production and localisation work.

This approach isn't right for every client, and many large agencies will (and should) retain their full contracts. It is however a fair guess that some of them will be asked to work with the indies, with nimble collectives, like Preciiis. Or with individuals that happen to be part of a collaborative collective; a guarantee of sorts that projects can safely grow at the value-adding end without overhead.

I know of about ten or so agencies who are fully embracing this approach, who bring in indies already at the pitch stage and happily share commissions. Those agency's have one thing in common: They were started by designers and strategists. People who used to be indies themselves. Much love!

The name? The English word “precisely” translated to Swedish is “precis”. In French “précis” means summary. Exact and to the point, that’s us in a nutshell.
