I am your professional safe space
In a different universe I might have become a full-time teacher, carrying on our family tradition. I love coaching and supporting smart people. Luckily my career in strategic design leadership has allowed me to do a lot of it over the years.
Until now the coaching has been part of larger assignments or roles. It’s been fantastic and of course I’ll keep that up. In parallel I’ve just started doing 1-on-1 coaching with people across the creative industries.
Why? Because leadership roles come with their own set of challenges. Most leaders experience being stuck juggling competing demands. Constantly judged with no one unbiased by their side. And, yes, feeling lonely in the role especially if they have just recently stepped away from practicing to leading.
That’s where having a coach becomes very valuable. Someone who is completely on your side, who brings insight and experience and whose only focus is your success. A professional safe space.
Of course, coaching isn’t just useful when you’re stuck. Ideating, exploring ideas, even expanding your network is something a good coach offers.
It's like having a map reader or co-pilot next to you, helping you get to the professional level you aspire to.
And even though the precise needs vary depending on role and context, coaches play a key part in many of our professional lives.
What would you look for in a good coach? Have you worked with coaches before?
I’d love to hear about your experiences. And of course I’d be very happy to discuss how my coaching can support you in your role.
